Logan Stanley and Zach Ostapchuk dropped gloves first, followed immediately by a more heated exchange involving Beck Malenstyn and Barclay Goodrow, with the latter receiving additional penalties for instigating and a misconduct.
Second Period Surge
Buffalo regained their two-goal cushion early in the second when Beck Malenstyn scored at 4:59, with assists from Peyton Krebs and Rasmus Dahlin. The Sabres continued their relentless attack as Jason Zucker extended the lead to 4-1 at 8:51, finding twine with help from Jack Quinn and Owen Power.
San Jose showed signs of life late in the period when Klim Sherwood scored with 31 seconds remaining, assisted by Mario Ferraro and Alexander Wennberg, heading into the intermission trailing 4-2.
Quinn Completes Hat Trick in Final Frame
The third period opened with Jack Quinn completing his hat trick just 42 seconds in, again connecting with Ryan McLeod and Rasmus Dahlin for the primary assists. San Jose briefly threatened a comeback when Alexander Wennberg scored at 6:56 with help from Tyler Toffoli, but Quinn sealed his exceptional night with his fourth goal at 17:14, assisted solely by McLeod.
Standout Performances
Jack Quinn emerged as the game's dominant force, registering four goals and earning first star honors. His linemate Jason Zucker contributed significantly with a goal and two assists, while Ryan McLeod proved to be the perfect complement with three assists. Rasmus Dahlin continued his stellar season with three assists from the blue line.
Goaltending Battle
Alex Lyon earned the victory between the pipes for Buffalo, stopping 17 of 20 shots for an 85.0% save percentage. San Jose's Yaroslav Askarov faced more pressure, making 20 saves on 25 shots with an 80.0% save percentage before being pulled.
Looking Ahead
This commanding victory demonstrates the Sabres' offensive capabilities when multiple lines contribute. The team's ability to respond immediately after allowing goals, combined with their balanced scoring attack, provides plenty of optimism moving forward. Quinn's breakout performance and the continued excellence of Dahlin from the back end suggest this team is finding its rhythm at the right time.
